Cell Phones

Need help with cell phone information. From what we are reading, our cell phones will not work in Curacao or Aruba. I don't know if this is the island cell phone company trying to get people to rent their phones, or if it really is true.

If this is the case, can anyone recommend a place to rent a cell phone. We will be in Aruba for 1 week, and Curacao for another week.

I have Cingular cell phone service in the United States and it has worked fine in Curacao. Airtime is very expensive, but it worked without having to make any arrangements.

the infrasctructure of Curacao enables you to call or receive calls from abroad, but it depends on your own provider and/or phone if you will be capable to do so.
There used to be rental companies, but nowadays you can buy a mobile phone for less than $30 so there is not much interest in this any more.
