Grenada gets Sandals

Postby KarenS » Tue Jan 24, 2006 10:05 am

According to Radio Jamaica, Sandals resorts hs contracted to build a multi-million dollar resort on Grenada. It also reports: "Construction of the hotel is expected to begin by the middle of this year.

Mr Boatswain said the St. George's University has also announced plans to construct a 400-room hotel, while there are ongoing negotiations with investors to construct a marina and condominium.

He also disclosed that the island's hotel sector should be fully operational in time for the 2007 Cricket World Cup.

The Finance Minister said nearly 85 per cent of the hotel plant had been rebuilt following the devastation caused by Hurricane Ivan in 2004.

Earlier this month, Air Jamaica announced an increase in its weekly schedule between Grenada and New York to eight flights beginning next month."

Anyone been to Greanada lately or planning a visit? Sounds as if the reconstruction has gone swimmingly!
