International Women's Day Celebrations

Postby KarenS » Wed Mar 08, 2006 8:52 am

Grenada Broadcasting Network reports:
"Thousands of Grenadian women are expected to join efforts to celebrate international women’s day throughout the month of March.

This year’s celebration will follow the theme, 'creating a safer environment to showcase women’s productivity in the rebuilding process.'

A number of activities have been planned by the Grenada National Organisation of Women, (GNOW) and the Ministry of Social Development to commemorate this national event.

Radio discussions and messages from organizers will be heard throughout the week and members of the public will receive a pink ribbon at the Melville street bus terminus on Wednesday morning.

Women will also be treated to the movie 'blinded' on March 8th, at the bell lecture Hall of Saint George’s University.

The activities are geared at bringing all women together to teach them to stand up and be counted."
