US Restrictions on Cuba visitors

Postby edcumming » Thu Jun 22, 2006 6:10 am

I heard that if you've been to Cuba you can't go to the states for ages afterwards, could anyone tell me if this is true?

US restrictions on visitors

Postby houghton » Tue Jul 11, 2006 11:45 am

Not sure where you heard this but it simply is not true. I've been to Cuba 15 times and many of those times I have turned around a week later and gone to the US AND with Cuban stamps all over my passport.

If you are a Canadian citizen they cannot ask you anything about being in Cuba nor can they detain you in any way for that.

If you are a US citizen, however that is different.

houghton sorry to tell you that you are wrong.

If you own property in the US, have a business license in the US or reside in the US for a period of more than 30 days out of the year(snow birds) you LEGALLY can not go to Cuba

Doesn't matter if you have canadian citizenship. If you fit into any of the above you can be penalized under the law.

The law applies to residents not just citizens. Read the US State Dept page.
