Cayo Coco Jellyfish

Postby Rachel » Wed Dec 21, 2005 9:01 pm

Are jellyfish common in Cayo Coco? I have read quite a few reviews of various resorts in Cayo Coco in which large amounts of the fish are present. Is this just a fluke, or is their presence in large numbers typical of the region? thank you in advance

The presence of jellyfish is often weather related. Generally, jellyfish are found further off shore in deeper waters but high winds and strong wave action bring them in to shore.

Be prepared and take along some packets of vinegar to immediately treat stings. Don't touch any jellyfish that may have washed up on the beach.

Hi!
I do not recall seeing any during my stays in the months of July, October, Nov and September (not sure if it is a seasonal thing). I tend to agree with YVR that it is based on tidal action.
