Bugs and Critters

Postby Chickadee » Wed May 03, 2006 12:30 pm

How bad are the biting bugs and what repels them best?

What time of day and at what locations are they the worst?

Once I've been bitten, what relieves the pain/itch?

What other creepie crawlies am I likely to encounter, are they dangerous?

The tiny mosquitos tend to get a little ravenous at dusk. Use your favorite repellent (Burts Bees makes a nice one). The mosquitos bite but the itch goes away very quickly. Dengue fever is a possibility from these bites but I've never contracted it when down there. I've seen a few bad looking spiders but they just run away. I'm sure there are a few more crawly critters lurking but they all kept their distance thankfully!
