ST. CROIX, U.S. VIRGIN ISLANDS, January 16, 2009 - Two ships are scheduled to call on St. Croix before the month's end bringing the total number of visitors to the island in the month of January to over 9,000. On Tuesday, January 20, Holland America Line's Maasdam will arrive at 7:00 am carrying approximately 1600 passengers and 618 crew. The ship will depart St. Croix at 4:00 pm. Known for its award-winning service, elegant ships, and exotic itineraries, Holland America Line is recognized as a leader in the cruise industry's premium segment.

On Thursday, January 22, the Azamara Journey will make its inaugural call on St. Croix arriving at 8:00 am and departing at 6:00 pm. This small deluxe ship with 710 passengers and 390 crew prides itself on its personalized service and graceful accommodations. In honor of the ship's first visit to the island, Assistant Tourism Commissioner Brad Nugent and other officials will welcome the ship at a shipboard ceremony shortly after arrival.

Both ships will be greeted on the pier by live musical entertainment and Department of Tourism greeters sharing island information, Cruzan Rum samples and USVI-branded souvenir gifts.

Although tentatively scheduled to arrive on January 28, the Crystal Symphony will not visit in January.
